The Faith of our Baptism

Baptism is the gateway, the way “in,” for Christians – it is the beginning, opening up opportunities for receiving Holy Communion, the sacraments of Confirmation and Marriage, of Reconciliation and Holy Unction, and even Ordination.  When we are baptized we declare our faith, and the statement of our faith is the ancient formulation of Christian belief that we know as the Apostles’ Creed.

It is not as doctrinally involved as the Nicene Creed – it is, in fact, a statement of the basics of being a Christian.  This Sunday we begin a five-week journey of travelling through the Apostles’ Creed.  What do Christians believe?  Why do we believe as we do?  What does it mean to believe this? what does it mean to be baptized under it?  This Sunday, we will begin to explore these, and other similar, questions about our faith.  ETA Sunday at 8:30 am.
