Building on a Firm Foundation, Thursday Evening Revisited

“Give us today our daily bread.”

It is Easter – not the day, but the season.  Perhaps this evening as you read the Gospel Reflection you were struck by this line: You can have no greater love for your friends than to give your life for them.  This stanza of our Reflection is taken from John 15:12-13.  We are reminded of how Jesus loves us: He has given His life for us; for our lives.  His life has been given for our sakes.  His life has been given so that we can have life in Him.  His life is the light of all; He has made us His friends by laying down His life for us.

This evening we might choose to reflect on God’s way of giving us what we need for the day – our daily bread – in the supreme act of self-giving: Jesus’ self-sacrifice.
