Building on a Firm Foundation, Thursday Morning 3.0

“Give us today our daily bread.”

The first sentence in our Gospel Reflection this morning is drawn from John 6:35, where Jesus is illustrating the truth that He is the source of true life.  He has just alluded to God’s provision of manna for the Israelites in the wilderness, and is now presenting Himself as the alternative.  His point is that He is the true nourishment that we need.  The old commercial said: Packed with peanuts, Snickers really satisfies!  They stole Jesus’ line – here, Jesus is saying that the bread from heaven, which needed to be gathered daily by the Israelites, could not satisfy.  Packed with true spiritual life, Jesus really satisfies!

Our reflections this morning might focus on the grace of God, Jesus offers Himself to us to give us true vitality and life.  Our Father, give us today our daily bread!
